Snowflake Challenge #6
In your own space, share a favourite piece of original canon (a show, a specific TV episode, a storyline, a book or series, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much.
Maria-sama ga Miteru is my big knitting show. If I need to knit for a brick of hours, it's time for for my slow walking lesbians. Let's go Lesbians!
I like Maria-sama ga Miteru, as someone who thought they couldn't read social cues I realized the world of women is some BS. Maria-sama was very comforting because you have to read into every micro-movement and that's what happens in the real world but in real people don't talk about that sometimes you get judged for dumb things.
In Maria-sama, people judge you for if your collar is messed up or you can't tie your necktie. They gossip about how you talk to other girls or if you're part of a cool girl's group. This stuff happens, but it addresses it and it's very validating. All the school girls also have BIG FEELINGS.
I also had whiplash when I saw notes online where one character had a crush on another and it was SO OBVIOUS when it was pointed out but despite pulling the series when I do some knitting, I never noticed until I read it. I don't want to spoil it, and the character's reaction is like so real in that they don't care because they're not attracted to said character. That's some real lesbian representation right there.
Some of the portrayals are like not real, this is a fantasy world when you don't have to spell stinky men and when you do you can send them away because this is the girl zone. I think it's funny when people hear me watch this series and I am like, 'no, I get a totally different enjoyment out of this show and I do not seem like the target demographic.'

These are my thoughts when I watch the show:
- Yumi is the best and she's so goofy and nervous and weird, I love her so much
- This is the show to knit to because it's pastely, there is JUST the right amount of drama
- This show is so perfectly soft and not afraid to be feminine
- Suguru Kashiwagi always makes me see him in a different light, because he is gay and attracted to Yumi's brother Yuki
- Dang these girls stress about everything, being a girl is hard. FRFR
- Tōko has so much drama they put her in the drama club
- Sachiko is doing her best, give her a break!
I'm not trying to sell anyone on the show, I just have a WHOLE different experience watching them.
Astro Fight Sunred
What a slept on show, this show is my annual re-watch along with Air Master and a slew of other shows. It's just very cozy. Some years I am the down on my luck and out of a job Sunred and the other times I am Kayoko. But as I get older, I relate to Vamp's character in how I am around the neighbourhood. The villains are fun, Sunred is a terrible person but at his core a good person.
The show is 52 episodes long, there are a lot of characters here and there that I LOVE LOVE LOVE! Vamp, the housewife-like villain and leader of Florsheim (the evil organization of this show's) Kawasaki Branch. Night Owl, a former hero turned Florsheim henmen, Usacots a stuffed bunny with a robot eye that is more cute than dangerous and is the mascot of this show. Dolgon, a bird monster and member of Florsheim who is queer/gay.
